Recycling cell phones for a better use (and cash)

Did you know that 5 billion cellular phones have been produced to date which are no longer in use? 10% of these phones in UK are being recycled and in America, the figure is below 20%. What happens to the rest of the phones all over the world? Well they either end up in our drawers or in the local municipal landfills polluting our drinking water and environment. For those of you who don’t know about this stuff, then this is the perfect time to be more concerned. Recycling cell phones have been practiced for a couple of years now. Some people who are guided with the same principles started this idea. Surely they thought that old mobile phones can be put to a better use instead of just watching them being turned into ashes which pollute the air that we breathe.

Recycling cell phones is pretty simple, all you have to do is decide whether to turn in the phone in exchange of cash or to donate it to your favorite charity. I actually tried selling my old unit and it didn’t even take me 5 minutes to complete the online form. You can either get a check or a gift card which will be sent to you after they verify that the phone you sent is exactly as described. This process usually takes 40 to 60 days.

You can also check this out with your local electronics store or shop. You can sell your cell phone to them and then you’ll walk away with your money. What are they going to do with your cell phone? Well they would have to check if your phone needs some repair or not. If it only requires minimal repair then they will fix it and then resell it so that somebody who can’t afford to buy an expensive mobile phone can have a cheaper alternative. They can also get the working parts of your old mobile phone and combine it with another phone’s working parts to build a new cell phone.

Recycling cell phones can also be good if you want to help other people who are in need. There are hundreds of charities all over the world and they will be more than happy to accept your phone to either turn it into cash to foster people’s needs or they might give your phone to somebody who needs it. Did you ever think that something you actually don’t need is badly needed by a person on the other side of the world?

How to Recycle Cell Phone for Cash

Did you know that there are over 150 million used phones sitting in drawers, closets and cabinets all over the United States? What about in other countries? Well there’s definitely more! Unfortunately, only 20% of these phones are being recycled which means the remaining 80% are just there right in your home waiting to be put in a better use. Before we learned how to recycle cell phone, we only had two options and these are throwing it away or just let it sit in your drawer letting it lose its value as time goes by. Every single time that you dump a phone in the garbage, you also dump part of your hard-earned money. Didn’t you ever think that there is something that you can do to help alleviate this problem? You might say what problem am I talking about?! Well to start with, wireless devices contain harmful substances such as Cadmium, Beryllium, Lead, Arsenic, Mercury and Palladium. These are horrible stuff to be dumping into the environment in such huge quantities.

How do you exactly recycle cell phone for cash?

It’s easy and very simple. If you want to sell it for cash instead of donating it then go ahead and search for online auctions, I’m telling you, there are a lot of websites and groups which support this kind of cause. All you have to do is fill out an online form and then you’ll know the value of your old mobile phone. You can then ship it to them and in return, they will send your check. Some websites even offer free shipping so you won’t have to worry about the cost of sending it to them.

You can get as much as $180 for a used mobile phone. These companies will then check if your phone can still be fixed or used, if so, they will put the phone back into circulation and sell it. This will help other people who can’t afford to buy a mobile phone to have cheaper way of communication. To recycle cell phone is a smart idea, I don’t really see it as a way to make tons of money. Making money out of it is totally not an issue for me. We have every right to decide what to do with the things that we don’t have a need of. So go ahead and spread the word to your family and friends so everyone else can help in saving the environment.

Millions of mobile phones end up in landfills every year. On an average, people replace their cell phones every 18 months. Can you imagine how many cell phones are being needlessly thrown away? Most of these phones are still working or some can still be fixed and resold. Some broken phones are still valuable. How? Well wireless devices contain materials such as gold, silver and platinum. Gold is used in the phone’s main circuit board. If we can use some parts of an old phone to create a new one it means that the need to produce new materials will be less thus helping our environment to take in less toxic materials as well. Have you ever thought how to recycle cell phones for a good cause?

If you don’t need it, it doesn’t mean that somebody else doesn’t need it. People in developing countries are one of the beneficiaries of this noble cause. Who ever thought that an old mobile phone can change a person’s life? I think this is simply amazing. I was thrilled when I found out about this! You can donate your mobile phone so these people who are in need can use it or sell it and use the proceeds to help somebody out. Before you make a move on how to recycle cell phones, you have to make sure that all services associated with the phone are terminated. Next thing that needs to be done is the deletion of all contacts and all other information. I’m pretty sure that you don’t want other people to be browsing through your personal messages and contacts. After doing so, remove your SIM Card. You may still want to use it in the future or you can just get rid of it.

To recycle cell phones is a brilliant idea, I can’t even find the perfect words to describe it. Something that you think useless can actually make somebody smile and you’re helping save the environment from tons of toxic substances. There are plenty of websites online which support phone recycling for a good cause. If you want to use the cash to buy something else for yourself then that’s fine. For as long as you put your old mobile phone to a better use then you’re still contributing to the betterment of our environment.

Cell Phone Recycling for Charity

We’re all guilty of throwing away a cell phone once or twice. Can you imagine how many cell phones are dumped in landfills every single day? Or how many working cell phones are there which are just lying in the attic floor, cabinet or drawer? There are millions of abandoned cell phones all over the world today and we’re still counting more in the future. This means there are millions of phones polluting our environment day by day. The good news is we can do something about this! Cell phone recycling for charity is one way to help lessen the damage caused by the toxic components of wireless devices.

Mobile phones and other devices are posting several threats to the environment and our way of living. Mercury, lead and cadmium are all harmful substances that may cause damage in more ways than we can imagine. Lead can eventually lead to the damage of our blood system and kidneys while mercury can cause chronic brain damage. These substances can go to water ways and may end up in our drinking water. This makes you wonder, there has to be some way to prevent this. Cell phone recycling for charity was the idea of a group of people who thought about environmental responsibility. Through the recycling programs, tons of toxic materials are prevented from being thrown away in landfills every month. Can you imagine what our surroundings will be like if nobody started this good cause?

It’s never too late for being socially and environmentally responsible. Start acting now so we can help millions of people around the world. Cell phone recycling for charity not only protects the environment from toxic wastes but it also changes people’s lives. The phone that you don’t need might be of better use by somebody who can’t afford to buy a cell phone. You can also sell your old mobile phone and then use the proceeds to help other people who are in need. There are over 700 organizations which support this kind of cause. They’ll be more than happy to accept your old cellular phone, turn it into cash for a noble cause.
Phone recycling: How does it work?

How many of us have switched phones only in an interval of 6 months? How many of us actually thought that there’s such a thing as phone recycling? Over the past couple of years, millions of old mobile phones are being dumped in the landfills which greatly contribute to the damage of our environment. As of 2009, there are over a billion of mobile phones waiting to be recycled and this is just in the United States, there can be more in other countries. An estimated 160 million phones will end up in the landfills in the coming year and even more in the next few years or so. This means that the amount of toxic materials like lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic will also multiply. Some states burn their waste which instantly puts toxic elements into the air we breathe. Can you do something to help? Definitely!

Phone recycling is the best way to combat this problem. A lot of people may not be aware of this but this is the perfect time to spread the word to everyone you know. You’re not just helping yourself to have a healthy environment but you are doing this for the sake of future generations as well. Whether you think your mobile phone is still working or not, do not just toss it in the garbage or leave it sitting inside your drawer. You can actually sell your cell phone for cash or if you’re feeling generous, you can just donate the money to a charity of your choice. Helping other people who are in need has never been so cool. Every single time that you throw a phone, you’re also throwing away your hard earned money. Even though you’re going to say that you don’t want it or you can’t use it anyway, still there must be something you can do to put that phone in a better use.

How does phone recycling work? You can actually take your old mobile phone (working or not) to your local electronics center and ask if they do phone recycling. You can sell the phone to them and what they’ll do is either fix the phone so somebody else can use it or get the working parts to build a new phone. This will significantly help the phone manufacturers. How? Well they do not need to source out or produce new materials for a new phone. Since you already know about this, what are you waiting for? Gather your old mobile phones now and start selling or donating them for a better use.

Mobile phone recycle how to

There are tons of mobile phones to choose from and I’m not sure whether it’s a good thing or not that manufacturers always come up with something new. We are always itching to switch phones and try out the latest model where in fact there is not much difference sometimes. As for me, for as long as I can call and text, I can survive! There’s nothing wrong with buying what you want but come to think of it, what happens to the mobile phones that you don’t want anymore? It’s actually a good idea to mobile phone recycle because not only that you’re helping in environmental causes but you can help other people who are in need too.

Mobile phone recycle started years ago and efforts are continually being made to make people aware of this procedure, that we can actually do something to contribute to our society and environment. While it’s good to know that people are more concerned now, only 20% of abandoned phones are recycled. What are the things that need to be done before you start recycling? Well first is you have to make sure that your service from your provider is completely terminated so if somebody else will use your old phone, he won’t get any unexpected bills. Clear the phone’s memory of messages, contacts, calendar activities and other information. Remove your SIM card because this can’t be used anymore with a mobile phone recycle. And also, you might need the SIM card to operate your new phone or it might just come in handy when you need some information stored in the SIM card.

The next step will be choosing the organization which will recycle your phone. In the US, you can visit your local Staples Office Supply Store or you can mail it instead. Some of the programs even offer free shipping so you can recycle your phone at no additional cost. You can choose your own charity or you can just look for an organization which supports this kind of cause and then they’ll just choose on your behalf. If you don’t want to donate your mobile phone then you can sell it instead. You can get paid as much as $180 depending on your phone’s model and working condition. There are plenty of online auctions but before you jump into anything, make sure you read the terms and conditions first. In addition to that, don’t fail to do your research, it won’t hurt if you’ll be extra careful.

All about mobile phone recycling

There are hundreds of phones being thrown away every single day. If they don’t end up in landfills, they just sit there in the attic or in the drawer. Cellular phones use some of the most toxic materials known to the environment including cadmium, beryllium, lead, arsenic mercury and palladium. These are horrible components that shouldn’t be dumped in our environment. There’s a way to lessen the damage if not totally prevent it and this is by mobile phone recycling. We don’t only recycle papers, plastics and cans but also phones. I think that this is a brilliant idea to help the environment and other people as well. You’re not only throwing away some of your money every time you throw a phone but you’re causing further damage to our environment as well especially if you’re one of those people who switches mobile phones twice a year or even more. I have a friend and she switches phone every three months! I bet there are plenty of people like her.

Mobile phone recycling is a good way to lessen environmental toxicity. I was so happy when I heard about this and I was happier when I found out that there are more than 700 organizations which support this cause. In the United States alone, the estimated number of abandoned phones counts to over a billion and another 125 million phones will be useless in another year or so. There are over 3 millions of mobile phones every week that either ends up in landfills or in our cabinets. These organizations divert these useful devices from damaging the environment and helping charitable organizations raise money so they can continue helping people around the globe.

Mobile phone recycling is an easy way to protect the environment and of course people. Some organizations even collect phones so they can give it to third world countries so they can reuse them or so they can have an affordable way to communicate. We don’t know it but this significantly helps people in the developing countries to somehow improve their quality of life.
Steps to recycle phones

Every year, there are millions of phones being thrown away. Most of these phones are still in good working condition and some can still be fixed. Most of us would change phones every now and then just because a better version came out of the market. In the United States, about 20% of mobile phones are recycled and in the UK, it’s about 10%. What happens to the 80 or 90% of these phones? Well they end up in landfills polluting our environment. Phones contain cadmium, mercury and lead which can end up penetrating the water that we drink or on various food resources. The good news is, the environmental damage caused by mobile phones can be lessened only if we know how to recycle phones. Yes you heard it right, there’s such a thing called “phone recycling”.

Wireless phones and accessories like charger can be of better use by helping a charity or by simply selling it for cash. Before you decide which charitable organization or which online auction you’ll deal with, you have to make sure first that you terminate the service associated with the phone. The next thing that needs to be done is the deletion of all contacts, messages and information on the phone. This is for your own security, you don’t want a stranger browsing through your personal messages or any information about you. Remove your SIM card as well if it has one.

What are the steps to recycle phones? After you’ve done all the things that were mentioned above, it’s time for you to decide whether to donate your phone to an organization like “Cellphones for Soldiers” or sell it so you can get cash out of it. Either way it’s fine. There is a lot of information online, you just have to search for participating numbers and follow the instructions how you can send them your phone, it’s better if you find one in your area. There are over 700 charitable organizations which support phone recycling. If you decide to keep the money so you can buy something else from it then it’s totally up to you, what matters is you decide to recycle your phone to a better use.

How To Recycle Phone

In the United States alone, there are over 205 million people who use cellular phone. On an average, people replace or upgrade their phones every 18 months. Today, there are over 650 million retired phones and chargers and yes most of them are still working. What about those phones which end up in the trash? Well they end up in the landfill and the toxic components like lead, mercury and cadmium which can be harmful to us. Did you ever ask yourself how to recycle phone?

Cellular phones house valuable materials like gold, silver and platinum. Gold is used on the mobile phone’s circuit board. Collecting one ounce of gold can generate tons of toxic wastes. Chargers on the other hand contain copper which is way less valuable but it can still be put into use. If you recycle phone, you are actually helping companies produce less materials needed for the manufacture of cellular phones. You can always take your phone to your electrical store so they can get the parts that are still working, in this way, the parts can be of better use. Rebuilt phones can be brought back into the market and be sold at a much cheaper price. People who can’t afford to buy newer models can take advantage of this.

When you recycle phone, you’re not only helping the environment but other people as well. The valuable components taken out from your old phone can be reused and then the rest of the parts can be disposed which in turn causes minimal environmental damage unlike if the whole phone will be thrown away. The cadmium content of just 3 phones is more than enough to pollute a huge swimming pool while the plastic can take about 1000 years before it biodegrades. You can recycle phone by either selling it or turning it over to non-profit organizations for charity or you can sell it to an electronics store so they can either fix it, make it work so somebody else can use it or they can get some valuable and working parts from the broken phone and use them to rebuild another unit.

What is Phone Recycling?

There are hundreds or even thousands of cellular phone models in the market today and it’s often hard to make a choice. How many times in a year that we change cell phones just because there’s a trendier model? Don’t you ever sometimes feel bad because you haven’t fully utilized your mobile phone and then here you are buying a new one? Have you ever thought about phone recycling? If you have one or tons of old mobile phone, you don’t have to keep them in the attic or just throw them away because you can actually recycle them to earn money. Interesting right?

Instead of tossing your old mobile phone in the garbage or the landfill, why not recycle it? Did you know that cell phones contain toxic materials that can harm our environment? Phone recycling is something that every person should be concerned about. There are some parts in the phone that are valuable which can still be used. You can opt to go to your local electronics store and ask them to recycle your phone or the battery. If you don’t need it, someone else does. You can actually find some dealers online to sell your old mobile phone in exchange for money. They will then recycle the phone and sell it to other markets in a much lower price. Items are being paid up to $150. That’s not bad after all. There are tons of websites that offer this kind of service or trading.

Phone recycling was started years ago by these people who care enough about the environment. I personally feel bad when I see working mobile phones that are just kept in boxes. That’s a complete waste of money. There must be a better use for them right? For some people, recycling is just their way of life whether we’re talking about papers, boxes or cellular phones. The working parts in your broken phone can be taken out together with some parts of another phone to produce one working phone. These phones will then be sent to circulation without the need to produce all of their parts.

How To Get Rid Of Your Old Cell Phones

On average, most people replace their phones every 18 months to 2 years. Considering how many cell phone users there are in the world, that’s quite a few phones just laying around not being used anymore! Whether they are broken or not, the old phones wind up in a box somewhere in the basement, completely forgotten and never to be used again.

Not only is this a waste of space, but in many cases old phones and old batteries can be hazardous to the environment if left lying around. Because they are harmful, they cannot be disposed of like the rest of our garbage. So what can we do with our old phones?

Fortunately, there are several programs available to help you get rid of your old phones. The types of programs typically involve donating your phones, recycling your phone to protect the environment, or selling old phones for cash (Or, if your phone still functions well, you can hang on to it as a backup).

1. Donate your phone.

Several programs exist to use your donated phone for a worthy cause. Some programs will sell the copper or gold in each phone and use the proceeds to aid their cause. Others will give away the phones to be used for emergency calls (every phone is required to be able to call 911, whether it is active or not). One unique program is Cell Phones for Soldiers, which sends donated phones to soldiers along with prepaid cards so the soldiers can call home.

2. Sell your phone.

It almost seems too good to be true, but there are websites that offer you cash for your used cell phone. The amount you receive all depends on what kind of phone you have, but if your phone is in good working condition most places will be willing to buy your phone from you for a decent price.

3. Recycle your phone.

If your phone is completely done for and there is nothing left to do other than toss it, the best idea is to ship it off to a certified cell phone recycling center. One popular local place to go is Best Buy; however, there are plenty of sites online that offer to take your old phone and dispose of it properly to help save the environment.

4. Keep your phone as a backup.

If your phone is still in good working condition, a great idea is to keep it as a backup. Simply put, you never know when something may happen to your current phone. And if your current phone is out of commission, there is no worse feeling than realizing how dependent you were on that phone. Even though your old phone isn’t as cool or hip anymore, it’s still fully functional and doesn’t cost any extra precious money.

Overall, the best thing to do is find your old phones and determine what condition they are in. You could be sitting on a gold mine and not even know it! Or, at the very least, you know there is a way to free up some much-needed space in your basement.
