Recycling cell phones for a better use (and cash)

Did you know that 5 billion cellular phones have been produced to date which are no longer in use? 10% of these phones in UK are being recycled and in America, the figure is below 20%. What happens to the rest of the phones all over the world? Well they either end up in our drawers or in the local municipal landfills polluting our drinking water and environment.  For those of you who don’t know about this stuff, then this is the perfect time to be more concerned. Recycling cell phones have been practiced for a couple of years now. Some people who are guided with the same principles started this idea. Surely they thought that old mobile phones can be put to a better use instead of just watching them being turned into ashes which pollute the air that we breathe.

Recycling cell phones is pretty simple, all you have to do is decide whether to turn in the phone in exchange of cash or to donate it to your favorite charity. I actually tried selling my old unit and it didn’t even take me 5 minutes to complete the online form. You can either get a check or a gift card which will be sent to you after they verify that the phone you sent is exactly as described. This process usually takes 40 to 60 days.

You can also check this out with your local electronics store or shop. You can sell your cell phone to them and then you’ll walk away with your money. What are they going to do with your cell phone? Well they would have to check if your phone needs some repair or not. If it only requires minimal repair then they will fix it and then resell it so that somebody who can’t afford to buy an expensive mobile phone can have a cheaper alternative. They can also get the working parts of your old mobile phone and combine it with another phone’s working parts to build a new cell phone.

Recycling cell phones can also be good if you want to help other people who are in need. There are hundreds of charities all over the world and they will be more than happy to accept your phone to either turn it into cash to foster people’s needs or they might give your phone to somebody who needs it. Did you ever think that something you actually don’t need is badly needed by a person on the other side of the world?
